We are sure that all of you are hearing, or directly impacted, by the ever-changing news regarding the Coronavirus. Daily the impact of the virus continues to impact our everyday lives. Schools are closed, businesses are closing, or open for fewer hours. Or in the case of restaurants, open for “take out” only. So how does that affect all of us?
First, the news from Washington is that not only will the requirement that Federal income tax payments be delayed 90 days (from April 15th to July 15th), but news this morning also updated the extension of the “filing” date to July 15th as well. So, for those of you expecting to owe taxes for 2019, this will allow you to pay your taxes 90 days later than normal and still avoid any late payment penalties. For those of you expecting a refund this year I would anticipate that you would want to file as soon as your tax returns can be prepared and ready for your approval/signature.
To accommodate the needs of our clients, as well as recognizing the challenges of staff with children at home, we have established methods and procedures for our staff to be able to work from home when they cannot be in the office. It will be impossible, due to the nature of our business, to operate completely from home and still be able to service you, our clients. Therefore, we are detailing below the hours our office will be open for conducting “in person” business. As much as possible we are hoping that most of you will utilize, if you haven’t already, our Portal to send and receive tax documents. Tabatha monitors this Portal daily either looking for new uploads or to send clients documents. This would be a safe way for us to continue to file your tax returns without the need for personal contact. If you do not currently have login credentials for our Portal please email Tabatha at email@example.com. She will initiate an invite to the Portal where you can login and set up your own password. If you have any questions about the use of the Portal Tabatha can help you navigate through the process.
Also, do to the unavailability of staff at the office currently, we ask that clients refrain from leaving voice messages, which might be lost in the system, and instead communicate via email, which every staff member will have available every day. If you must leave a voice message, please leave those messages on Tabatha’s extension and she will forward as necessary.
Lastly, and most importantly, we want everyone to be safe. As these steps are taken by many businesses and communities throughout the US we are hopeful that the threat of the virus will be reduced, and we can all get back to our normal lives sooner than later. In the meantime, we all need to work together.
